Amirul Mukminin Ali bin Abi Thalib berkata,

fingers crossed
A long time ago people (christians) were very superstitious and believed "cross"ing their fingers was like the sign of the cross (salib) which they believed was magically lucky (wiki.answers.com)
in modern days, westerners and people around the world still practice this for wishing of good luck. and we muslims follow them without knowing the real meaning.
now that we know the real meaning of "crossing fingers", should we still do it or even use the term in our daily lives? i've noticed that most muslims in malaysia often use this term for wishing people good luck. it's sad because i used to live in the UK, and never practice this even once.
let us be alert of the tiny things like this, since it may effect our aqidah. better avoid than sorry in the after life. there are many islamic terms that we can use that can gain Allah SWT's blessing. InsyaAllah.
just a reminder for us muslims, since it's Ramadan :)
